The Annual Fund is the foundation of all fundraising at The Marshall School

The Annual Fund is The Marshall School's annual giving campaign that bridges the gap between what tuition covers and the total cost of education. It helps fund the general operating budget and other programs and activities that directly benefit our students.

Where do Annual Fund contributions go?

Your Annual Fund gift helps us achieve our mission - creating learning success stories, one student at a time. Donations go directly to initiatives such as:

Low student-to-teacher ratio
Individualized learning
Specialized instructors in foreign language, music, art, and physical education
Need-based financial aid.
Faculty professional development
Academic resources and supplies
Yearly facilities improvements
Equipment and technology purchases
Co-curricular expenses

Why doesn’t tuition cover all educational expenses?

For most private schools, tuition doesn’t cover the full cost of educating a student. This discrepancy is often called “the gap,” which represents the difference between the true cost of a private school education per student and the cost of tuition per student.

If tuition were to increase to reflect the true cost, many families would not be able to afford the price of a private school experience. Our goal is to maintain a reasonable tuition, so deserving families are not excluded. We recognize that a diverse student body enhances the educational experience for all our students and families and that raising tuition costs would hinder our ability to enroll new students.

Does my giving make a difference?

Yes! Each gift makes a significant difference! Our community’s collective contributions provide us with the financial flexibility to enhance our programs and enrich our student’s educational experience. Annual Giving is a critical component of our operating budget, but the impact of your donation does not end there.

Before outside donors commit resources to The Marshall School, they want to see a fully invested community that believes in the school, its values, and experience. Participation in the Annual Fund is an indicator of our community’s shared commitment to the success and sustainability of The Marshall School and sends a powerful message to other donors.

How can I make a gift?

Gifts using credit or debit cards are the most common and efficient way to donate and can be made directly on our website. Gifts of cash and checks can be made out to The Marshall School at 5707 Salem Run Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. All donations to The Marshall School are tax-deductible based on the school’s 501(c)(3) designation.
